We all have our special places; the weekend havens we dream of when we’re commuting to work instead. Although that place could be anywhere we call it a ‘Dorset state of mind’, and it turns out that for many people Dorset is indeed very special.
You’ve been sharing your #dorsetstateofmind photos with us – so here’s a gallery of some of our Dorset favourites…

beaches, rocks and waves

The stunning rocks and seascapes of the Jurassic Coast are probably the images that most people think of when they picture Dorset.

As Katie put it on Instagram while sharing this fine pic: ‘Back at my desk, but would rather be back here’…

Phoebe Ashley (aka food blogger and instagrammer ‘A Little Tasty’) shared this image of Chapman’s Pool on the Isle of Purbeck. We love the blues and scudding clouds…

…and Anna Ge captured this fine image of Durdle Door, including both the famous rock ‘window’ and the sweep of the cove:

Susana Temple on Facebook gave us a whole min-gallery of fantastic Jurassic Coast views…

Here are two shots that really capture an atmosphere. Amazing colours in this shoreline pic by Josh ‘Hawk Eye’ Haine on Facebook…

And a walk with the dog along Lytchett Bay at dusk by Katie Bee

heading inland

But Dorset isn’t just about the coast – there’s a whole lot of beautiful green countryside too. Here’s another lucky dog – Ghosty, belonging to one Ben Myatt, contemplating the possibilities in the fields of Motcombe:

And we love that the team at Housenumbers are sharing their lunchtime and evening walks around the office at  Blandford Forum…

Finally, we urge you to follow the Instagram account of Sven Allenbach, which has a steady flow of stunning Dorset views under the hashtag #dorsetstateofmind – like these of Weymouth Harbour and Portland Bill lighthouse, to name but two…

But remember, your Dorset State of Mind could be found anywhere, it doesn’t have to be Dorset. And in the next gallery post we’ll be featuring your pics from around Britain and even far beyond.

If you have a photo of your favourite place in the world we’d love you to share it with us. Post it to our Facebook page, tag us on Twitter or Instagram, or use the hashtag #DorsetStateOfMind.
